“You’re just getting older.” It’s something so ma “You’re just getting older.”

It’s something so many people hear when they bring up symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, digestive issues, poor sleep, or low energy.

While aging is inevitable, feeling unwell shouldn’t be accepted as your new normal.

One of my favorite patients to see is the person w One of my favorite patients to see is the person who is thinking about brain health before anything feels wrong.

Recently, I’ve worked with several patients in their 40s and 50s who are cognitively sharp, thriving in their careers, and simply curious about their future risk.

Through a Cognoscopy, we sometimes uncover an ApoE4 variant or subtle lab changes that suggest it’s time to pay closer attention to brain health.

Is that news always fun to receive? No.

But from my perspective, this is exactly when I want to meet you.

Not when memory is changing.
Not when we’re trying to slow decline.

Now.

When there is still tremendous opportunity to influence the trajectory.

Your genes are not your destiny. They are information. And information gives us the chance to take action.
That’s why I get excited about prevention.

🧠 Curious about your own brain health risk factors? Drop a brain emoji in the comments and I’ll send you more information about Cognoscopy and cognitive decline prevention.
One of the unexpected joys of practicing herbal me One of the unexpected joys of practicing herbal medicine is meeting plants in person.

While visiting the beautiful herb garden at Maymont Mansion in Richmond, Virginia, we couldn’t help stopping to admire some familiar favorites. 🌿

Dr. Sarah found chamomile and marjoram, while Dr. Luciana was excited to spot fennel and lavender.

There’s something special about seeing these plants growing in the ground instead of just reading about them, prescribing them, or brewing them into tea. It reminds us that herbal medicine begins with a relationship to the plants themselves.

Do you have a favorite medicinal herb?
Drop it in the comments below—we’d love to hear which plants you keep coming back to. 🌱
