Why Brain Health Matters

It’s Never Too Early—or Too Late—to Support Your Brain

Changes associated with cognitive decline can begin years before they noticeably affect memory or daily life. That creates an important opportunity to identify risk factors early, establish a cognitive baseline, and support long-term brain health before symptoms develop.

But prevention is only part of the story. Even when memory changes, mild cognitive impairment, or early Alzheimer’s disease are already present, there may still be meaningful opportunities to address the factors contributing to decline. Our goal is to understand where you are today and create a personalized plan to protect remaining function, support improvement where possible, and promote greater independence and quality of life.

Whether you are being proactive because of family history or APOE4 status—or seeking help for changes already underway—the best time to begin is now.

Who Is This Program For?

Whether you’re looking to prevent cognitive decline or address memory changes, we’ll meet you where you are.

This program may be right for you if you:

  • Are forgetting names, appointments, or conversations more often
  • Have Subjective Cognitive Impairment (SCI)
  • Have Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
  • Have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease
  • Want to complement the care you’re receiving from your neurologist

Not sure which program is right for you?

Our Precision Medicine Approach

We Don’t Just Ask If Your Brain Is Changing—We Ask Why.

Brain health is influenced by many interconnected factors. Rather than focusing on a single lab value or diagnosis, we use the Apollo Health RECODE® and PRECODE® framework to understand your brain from multiple perspectives. Throughout your care, we evaluate three core areas simultaneously to create a personalized plan that’s tailored to your unique biology, health history, and goals.

Understanding Your Current Cognitive Health

Before creating a plan, it’s important to understand how your brain is functioning today. Depending on your goals and symptoms, your evaluation may include:

Icon 12
Comprehensive medical and family history
Icon 1
Cognitive assessment and screening
Icon 4
FDA-approved blood biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease, when appropriate
Biofeedback Therapy
Advanced brain imaging, when indicated

Our goal is to establish a meaningful baseline so we can better understand where you are today and monitor your progress over time.

Identifying Your Individual Risk Factors

One of the hallmarks of the RECODE® approach is identifying the specific factors that may be contributing to cognitive decline—or increasing future risk. We evaluate the six major categories described in the Bredesen framework:

Risk Factor Category What We Look For
Inflammatory Chronic inflammation can affect brain function and is associated with an increased risk of cognitive decline. We look for underlying contributors such as chronic infections, oral health concerns, autoimmune conditions, and other sources of inflammation.
Glycotoxic Blood sugar dysregulation and insulin resistance can impair the brain’s ability to efficiently use energy. Optimizing metabolic health is a key part of supporting long-term cognitive function.
Atrophic The brain depends on adequate hormones, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to function optimally. We evaluate whether nutritional deficiencies or hormonal imbalances may be limiting your brain’s resilience.
Toxic Environmental toxins, mold exposure, heavy metals, and other toxic burdens may contribute to cognitive symptoms in some individuals. When appropriate, we investigate these potential contributors.
Vascular Healthy blood flow is essential for brain health. We assess cardiovascular and metabolic factors that influence the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the brain.
Traumatic Previous head injuries, repetitive trauma, and other neurological insults can influence long-term cognitive health and are considered as part of your overall risk profile.

To better understand these risk factors, we may recommend:

  • Comprehensive health and family history
  • Standard laboratory testing (often coordinated through your primary care provider or covered by insurance)
  • Cognitive genomics
  • Sleep apnea testing
  • Functional testing, such as mycotoxins, heavy metals, or cortisol, when clinically appropriate

Our goal is to identify the factors that are most relevant to your brain health so we can focus our efforts where they’re likely to have the greatest impact.

Optimizing the Foundations of Brain Health

Once we understand your unique risk profile, we create a personalized plan that strengthens the lifestyle factors known to support lifelong cognitive health:

Nutrition
Icon 1
Exercise
Icon 4
Sleep optimization
Icon 12
Stress resilience
Biofeedback Therapy
Brain stimulation and cognitive engagement
Icon 8
Targeted supplementation

We recognize that lasting change happens over time. Rather than asking you to change everything at once, we’ll help you prioritize the interventions most likely to benefit your brain and implement them at a pace that feels realistic and sustainable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for your Brain Health Program?
Our program is designed for adults who want to take a proactive approach to brain health, including those with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease, APOE4 carriers, individuals experiencing subjective cognitive changes or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and those with early Alzheimer’s disease. Whether your goal is prevention or treatment, we’ll tailor your care to your unique needs.
Do I need a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or Mild Cognitive Impairment to become a patient?
No. Many of our patients seek care because they have concerns about their future risk, carry the APOE4 gene, or have noticed subtle changes in memory or thinking. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit from a comprehensive brain health evaluation.
Can I work with you if I already have a neurologist?
Absolutely. We frequently collaborate with neurologists, primary care providers, and other specialists. Our goal is to complement your existing medical care by addressing modifiable lifestyle and health factors that support cognitive function.
Will you order laboratory testing?
When appropriate, we may recommend laboratory testing or other evaluations to better understand the factors influencing your brain health. We often coordinate standard laboratory testing through your primary care provider or order it directly when appropriate. Additional testing is recommended based on your individual history and goals.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. We provide virtual appointments for patients throughout New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. as well as in-person visits in Dover and Newington, New Hampshire.
How long does it take to see results?
Every patient’s situation is different. Some people notice improvements in energy, sleep, or mental clarity within a few months, while other goals—particularly Alzheimer’s prevention or long-term cognitive optimization—are measured over years. Our focus is on helping you make meaningful, sustainable improvements that support lifelong brain health.
Can Alzheimer's disease really be prevented?
While no healthcare provider can guarantee prevention, a growing body of research suggests that many of the factors influencing cognitive decline are modifiable. Our goal is to identify your individual risk factors and develop an evidence-informed, personalized plan to support the healthiest brain possible throughout your life.
