One of the unexpected joys of practicing herbal me One of the unexpected joys of practicing herbal medicine is meeting plants in person.

While visiting the beautiful herb garden at Maymont Mansion in Richmond, Virginia, we couldn’t help stopping to admire some familiar favorites. 🌿

Dr. Sarah found chamomile and marjoram, while Dr. Luciana was excited to spot fennel and lavender.

There’s something special about seeing these plants growing in the ground instead of just reading about them, prescribing them, or brewing them into tea. It reminds us that herbal medicine begins with a relationship to the plants themselves.

Do you have a favorite medicinal herb?
Drop it in the comments below—we’d love to hear which plants you keep coming back to. 🌱

One of the most common abnormalities I see on nutr One of the most common abnormalities I see on nutrition testing is an unhealthy omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.

While both types of fats are important, most Americans are getting plenty of omega-6s and not nearly enough omega-3s. Over time, this imbalance can impact inflammation, cardiovascular health, and brain health.

The good news? This is often one of the easiest nutrition patterns to improve.

Try:
✓ Eating more fatty fish like salmon and sardines
✓ Adding walnuts, chia seeds, and flax seeds to your routine
✓ Reducing foods made with large amounts of seed oils when practical

No need for perfection—small changes can make a meaningful difference.

Have you ever had your omega-3 levels tested?
